Activities: Tribes, Tea Tour, Culture, Wild Life | (10 Days / 11 Nights)

Day 01: Arrive Dimapur – Kohima (74 km / 2 hours)

Arrive Dimapur, transfer to Kohima, PM visit the Second World War memorial and the very interesting local market. Overnight at the Japfu hotel.

Day 02: Kohima

Morning visit Khonoma village, 20 km one way. Afternoon drive short distance to the southern Angami tribal village of Kigwema.

Day 03: Kohima – Tuophema (45 km 1 hour 30 min)

Drive to Tuophema, 45 km/ 1 and ½ hour. Check into Village resort built in the Angami Naga style with amenities for a comfortable stay. Walk in the old village and visit the small but interesting museum. Evening enjoy a traditional dance performance by the local people.

Day 04: Tuophema

Morning drive short distance to a village inhabited by the Rengma Naga tribe. You can have a look at the traditional weaving in some households and also buy Naga shawls or stoles, if interested, direct from the villagers. Afternoon at Tuophema.

Day 05: Tuophema – Mokokchung (115 km / 4 hours)

Drive to Mokokchung and check into Tourist Lodge. Afternoon visit Ao Naga tribal villages.

Day 06: Mokokchung – Jorhat (103 km / 3 hours)

Drive to Jorhat in Assam. Check into Sangsua tea bungalow. Afternoon tea tour visiting tea plantation and factory (factory not in operation from mid December to end March).

Day 07: Ferry across River Brahmaputra – Majuli Island, short drive (2 hrs ferry)

Drive 45 km to Neematighat near the town of Jorhat, take a ferry across the mighty Brahmaputra to Majuli Island, the culture center of Assam. Visit Hindu monasteries or ‘satras’. Interact with the ‘bhakats’ or monks, know about their practices and way of living. Overnight at Prashanti Tourist Lodge.

Day 08: Majuli Island – Kaziranga National Park (2 hours ferry, drive 120 km / 3 hours)

Take the return ferry to Neematighat and drive on to Kaziranga National Park for overnight stay. Check into Iora – The retreat or similar.

Day 09: Kaziranga

Early morning elephant safari in the central range of the park. Afternoon jeep safari in the western range of the park. Kaziranga is also well known for its bird life with more than 450 species recorded. Wild buffalo, deer, elephants make this park a favorite for the wild life enthusiast. Overnight Iora – the Retreat or similar.

Day 10: Kaziranga – Guwahati (220 km / 5 hours)

Drive to Guwahati, check into Hotel Kironshree Portico or similar. Afternoon visit Kalakshetra, a sprawling enclosure depicting cultures and traditions of Northeast India with an interesting museum. Evening a one hour cruise on the River Brahmaputra.

Day 11: Guwahati Airport

Transfer to Guwahati airport for out bound flight.
